Anyone for Tennis?

When I tell people I have three tennis courts in my backyard, they picture country clubs and neighborhood courts with signup sheets.  The reality is very different...

At least the high fence keeps the deer out.

In 1974, a local construction company donated the funds to build three tennis courts for the Seven Hills School (more on the history of the house in a subsequent post).  This is what remains.

The trees might add a challenge to a game.

It would cost a lot to dig up and remove the court.  The heavy equipment rental and disposing of the tennis court material (which must be done at a special recycling center) is not really feasible for us at the moment.  So, what do we do with the space?

  • Raised bed garden
  • Greenhouse
  • Basketball court
  • Gazebo or pergola
  • Bike obstacle course for the kids
  • Fire pit - this one will be easy since it is already there...
I wonder how many times the fire department has been called to put out what must look like a massive inferno in the middle of the City.

Thoughts?  We probably won't tackle this immediately but it would be good to start planning.
